Five More Minutes

Does reaching more of the future mean living more?

An endless life could unfold like one tired day. Sleep becomes a way to skip eras, recover curiosity, or postpone deciding whether another waking period is wanted. Could fear of missing out survive the desire to participate?

Friends might intend to reach the end together, then find different eras worth staying in. Is leaving the journey failure, or discovering what the journey was for?

Stasis could let mortal and immortal people visit the same eras, but give the mortal less waking time in each. Either could choose to stay.

At the final alarm, would seeing the end justify everything left behind?
