Can new information undo the meaning of a shared life?
People have loved, trusted, and raised children together. Then they learn that some of them are artificial. Their experiences remain, but their explanation changes.
Does origin reveal an inability to love, or expose a prejudice about what love must come from? Anger about concealment differs from rejection of an artificial person. What if that person never knew their own origin?
A demand for proof could destroy the trust it seeks to restore. Even a reassuring result cannot erase what the demand communicated. Who decides what evidence is enough, and who bears its cost?
Would beliefs about artificial life survive unchanged when applied to one's partner, children, or oneself?
